John Winston Lennon was born on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England. His parents were Julia Lennon (nee Stanley) and Alfred Lennon. Ever since, that had been his hometown. He lived with his aunt Mimi since his mother didn't have the stablest home for John. Sometimes, but not most of the time, his parents would be with him. His mother taught him how to play the banjo. In fact, that was how John was able to play the guitar. His father had been with him during his Beatle years. He had also attended a choir at St. Peter's church just
at 15 years old, where he would soon have him and his Quarrymen band play when he was 17. That was when he met Paul McCartney, July 6, 1957. He asked him to join the band. Later on in the same year, at his college he met Cynthia Powell, who dyed her hair blonde for him to notice her. They would soon get married on August 22, 1962 and have a child named Julian Lennon on April 8, 1963. During his Beatles years, he had an affair with an avant-garde artist he had met at the Indica Gallery, Yoko Ono, without telling Cynthia. She found out about their affair when she had found Yoko in her bathrobe with John, they had a divorce on November 8, 1968. He then went on to remarry with Yoko on March 20, 1969. They had a child named Sean Ono Lennon on October 9, 1975. In the late 60s, specifically 1969, that was when he became a peace activist with his remarried wife until the 70s. His peace projects were the bed-in, that took place in Amsterdam. It was a nonviolent protest against war, where he would talk about peace in bed. He made other songs involving peace, such as "Give Peace a Chance", "Happy Xmas (War is Over)", "Imagine", etc. He had released those songs when the Beatles had disbanded. John's solo work was also focused on politics ("Gimme Some Truth"), personal life ("Mother"), especially his love life ("#9 Dream"). On December 8, 1980 was when he got shot by a former fan of his named Mark David Chapman. He shot him because of the quote, "The Beatles are bigger than Jesus". He was officially announced dead on December 9, 1980.
